Labor Day this year dawned beautiful as Simla VFD arrived on-scene to set-up for their annual BBQ community lunch.
By the time our community photographer showed up, we were all set up with grill’s fired up and ready to go.
Silent Auction
Senior Class & Bake Auction
Simla VFD and the Big Sandy 100J Class of 2020 teamed up to auction off a Senior for a day’s work followed by auction of a baked goodie from community chefs.
Proceeds from Senior Auction help fund their senior class trip next spring, while baked good proceeds go to Simla VFD.
Simla Fire volunteer Todd Natale put his auctioneer skills to community use while he entertained the crowd, encouraged and eased along the usual bidding wars that happen every year when the local competitive spirit grabs hold. Todd’s skill and the community combined to bring top dollar for all who came to the ‘block’.
The Senior and Bake auction hour of anticipation (or dread, for some) demonstrates well the spirit of the community we serve, from the generous hands that baked to the loving hearts that are there for the next generation and finally, the wallets that open wide when a ‘soon-to-make-their-way-into-the-world’ child of Simla stands before the community holding a famous local treat.
